This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created,

This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in His own likeness.

This is the account of Noah’s sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth, who also had sons after the flood.

Then the LORD said to Noah, “Go into the ark, you and all your family, because I have found you righteous in this generation.

I am a laughingstock to my friends, though I called on God, and He answered. The righteous and upright man is a laughingstock.

The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining brighter and brighter until midday.

Surely there is no righteous man on earth who does good and never sins.

then even if these three men—Noah, Daniel, and Job—were in it, their righteousness could deliver only themselves, declares the Lord GOD. ... then as surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it, they could not deliver their own sons or daughters. For the gospel reveals the righteousness of God that comes by faith from start to finish, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

Now it is clear that no one is justified before God by the law, because, “The righteous will live by faith.”

By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in godly fear built an ark to save his family. By faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

if He did not spare the ancient world when He brought the flood on its ungodly people, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, among the eight;

The high places were not removed from Israel, but Asa’s heart was fully devoted all his days.

And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, but not wholeheartedly.

There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job. And this man was blameless and upright, fearing God and shunning evil. ... Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one on earth like him, a man who is blameless and upright, who fears God and shuns evil.”

Consider the blameless and observe the upright, for posterity awaits the man of peace.

Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and decrees of the Lord.

and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to Him in His death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
